A quick Nail Polish Rack!

I've gone missing again! :( Life keeps me pretty busy and sometimes thinking about a blog post stresses me out! Plus I didn't thrift for abut 3 months! I just couldn't afford it! So reacently I had some extra money and skipped to Goodwill!

OK I went to get baby girl clothes for a friend who was having her baby shower. Yes, she knew I was buying them used! I wish I would have taken a picture though. because I got the CUTEST baby clothes ever!

While wondering around plenty of things made it into my cart! Hey don't judge me it was 50% off day!

One of them was this sweet little spice rack! It was $2! You could tell it was handmade and then painted this ivory color. The paint was dripping! There were big scratches all over it.  This spice shef had seen better days!

As soon as I saw it I knew I could use it for nail polish until I make my big one! This one will work for a few of them!

I washed it and scrubbed it with a sponge and dish soap. After I let it dry I went outside and gave it 2 quick coats of spray paint! That's right no primer... no sanding.

Here it is! It's pink of course! It held 25 bottles of polish! I was surprised! I do love it!  I used it for pinks and clears! Can't wait to build my big stand!

Well that's all for now. I must go meet a friend for lunch!

I'll be back soon!

Recent Thrifty Fun!

I got some good stuff lately. Thrift store clothing is the only ay to go especially for kids. My son just turned 4 but wears a size 5 and I imagine he will be in 6 by Winter.

He grows like a weed. For that reason I thrift most of his clothes.

Not only do I thrift but I load up his old clothes and take them to a 2nd hand shop.

This is 4 shits and 3 pairs of shorts. They were free! I used my store credit!

I also scored these 4 awesome shirts for me. Who gets rid of a like new Darth Vader shirt?!

Then I scored this super cute and it great shape black leather bag! Also for free! The closure is so cute and I love the gold chain!

So thrift on! Also don't forget about your local 2nd hand stores that buy clothes. I got $40 in credit and the clothes are thrift shop priced (or cheaper!)

Ugly Frame to beautiful tray!

Welcome to Tutorial Tuesday. OK so there's no tutorial. Sorry. I forget to take during pics often!

I found these beauties at my Goodwill! The frame was $2.99 and the glass bird was $1.99 so $5 got the both.

I could see the pretty from these. Can't you already see it?

I could have picked up some of these instead. Seriously though... they are creepy!

I slapped on a coat of spray primer. Then some bright spray paint. I even had scrapbook paper and a sticker added in the mix!

Beautiful right?! One mans trash really I another (wo)mans come up!

I can't wait to get these into my new room!

Thrift store score plus a refinished project!

I have a problem. Really I can't stop thrifting.  Shopping make me happy. I m an emotional shopper. Thrifting allows me to shop away my feelings and it's cheaper than going to the mall!

I found this cute cars lap desk. It was $1.50 my son is obsessed with Lightning Mcqueen. Good score I think!

I scored him 6 awesome shirts in size 5. $1.00 each!

Thrifting is the best for kids clothes. I'm telling you. They grow like weeds and even at Wal-Mart a shirt is $3.00 each! I got 6 shirts for the price of 2!

Then I found this. I was SOOO excited. Since I am moving out of my house into a small apartment with a roommate I need a place to put mail. I had been searching for something and this is amazing. It opens up and holds keys! It was $3.00.

A quick coat of red spray paint and stickers from Hobby Lobby. A for Ashleigh and N for Nick. This will help me for sure. I tend to just put things down. So having an exact spot to put mail and keys ensures they will not get lost!

Thrift store Clutches and purse!

I love thrifting. I mean I love it. I look back at my life and wonder how I lived before thrifting.

Then I remembered my house wasn't decorated and my clothes were falling apart.

I love clothes, and shoes, and purses. I like to have lots of choices.

So I went to Goodwill on half off day. I love half off day.

I went thinking I needed some clutches. I don't have many small bags. Mostly just big ones.

I carry large purses that have my whole life in them!

I did find some cute little clutches! 4 of them! Woo Hoo!

Prices:
The silver one is a hard body with metal chain and metal closure  it's sparkly and I love it. I love sparkles! I got it for $1.50

The gold one is classic clutch. Button close and is a good size. $1.00

The tiny black one has a cute beaded fringe and a beaded strap! It's cute and will work for a night out! It was $1.00

The white pleather purse is cute. Button closure and a cute bow! It has  silver metal chain. It was the most expensive of the 4 at $2.00!

Then I saw this. It's beautiful light brown and has cute buckle detailing. It's big and in great shape.  I swear it was never used. If it was used it must have been used once!

The inside has lots of pockets! Isn't it lovely! Yes it is!  I love it!

It was $4.00

Grand total $9.50! Not bad for 5 new bags right?!

I'm going to start a new series on Saturday! I can't wait to show you all!

Vintage kitchen!?

Last week I went to the thrift store... I knew I shouldn't since I'm moving, but I had to. I was glad  I did.. I ended up finding a few pieces for my vintage kitchen! I was excited!

I found this lovely decanter! I'll be using it for mouthwash at my new and very small apartment!

Haven't you seen the pins?
Like this one! I think it looks amazing! Can't wait!

Vintage casserole dishes!  They are not Pyrex but still amazing!

I just love them. I can't wait to use them!

I'll get better picture after I move and they are in my new kitchen!

I swear I have about 10 half done crafts all over the house. I'll finish some and start posting. I swear!

I've been a busy bee!

Really I have. It's been crazy around here! Let me tell you. I'm moving! Leaving my house ad into an apartment with a roommate!  I've been grabbing all my thrifted treasures that needed to be painted. I've been thrifting and purchased some new work clothes too!

Here are a few candle sticks I had waiting to be pained nice.

This pitcher. It has pretty detail but lots of scratches!

A little pink floral tray and a 1980s blue duck wall shelf!

The little tray is much cuter now!  There's nothing Mod Podge can't fix. I cut up a couple pages from a thrift store book!
Here are the items in  a pile. That shelf is much cuter in yellow! That bird is not a thrift score! It was brown and $9.00 at Ross.
So cute and bright right? This is how many cans of spray paint I have! :( Plus EVERYTHING can be painted!
The pitcher is much more amazing painted right! I can't wait to have it in my room!

I will be back soon!  I send most of my time trying to get rid of things I don't "need" It's hard!

Ultimate Work Clothes Thrift Score

Like I said last week  I am starting a new job in a fancy office and I have to wear dress clothes.  Sad I know. I don't own a lot of dress clothes to wear. I'm a jeans and t-shirt kind of girl.

So I headed to Goodwill on Thursday for dollar day.

I scored 6 pairs of pants and 4 skirts.  They were $1.00 each.

1 dress, 1 sparkle jacket, 1 bolero (that is in the wash right now). and 10 shirts!

That's 23 items for $23.00! I got a few more things too but I need to chop them up and make them rock before I post those.

These clothes are all in great shape and most of them are name brand. If I were to shop at Ross for $23 I would have only got 1 pair of pants and maybe 1 shirt. I know there are 3 burgundy tops but I like the color. Also the sparkly jacket is my favorite and it is really right out of the 80's. It came with crappy shoulder pads and a HORRIBLE dress.

Tomorrow I'll be posting a tutorial I promise!

Welcome Back Thrift Store Score

What a month! Whew.... Let me tell you. I 1 week my house got robbed. They got my laptop with all my tutorial pictures and all of my other stuff. I then got the terrible stomach flu. After that I lost my job for being sick and my car broke!

So I am back anyways ready to blog. While I was missing I noticed I have had lots of new readers and even better... some posts were pinned!

Thanks guys! That is awesome.

So I'm back now. While I was missing I didn't even thrift! WHAT?! I know.

I went in a few times this week  though and I am planning a good trip tomorrow. I just got a new job working for a bank corporate office. I have to dress nice all the time. I need some work clothes!

I found another awesome vintage pitcher for $1.99 and those shoes were $1.00. I won't wear them but I'm going to glitter them!

Tomorrow I'm going to get some work clothes though. Wish me luck!

I will have a new tutorial up soon too!

Thrift Store Score Dresses

This week I have another thrift store score. It's smaller than normal. I just didn't see anything super awesome this week. It happens.

All I found was these 3 dresses. They were $1.00 each.

They are all begging to be chopped up and turned awesome!

On a side note... I think I have a problem. I really need to stop buying clothes to refashion. I never seem to get in my sewing room and sew. Seriously someone stop me!

The issue is I love to shop. I suppose it's better to spend $1.00 on stuff to sew instead of $10.00 a yard at the fabric store!

Finally my new charger is here!

I haven't been able to post the last few days! :( My laptop charger broke! Horrible, I know!

What else is going on? Well let me tell you! I bought this hand sander. It's purple. I knew it would help me with all the sanding I have to do. I lost it! It's just totally missing! I looked all over! I ransacked my sewing room and had no luck! I am sad. :( I  really want it back!

So I did get a few projects finished for Make It March.

Here is the before picture of one of those old VHS holders. I got it at Goodwill for $3.00 and knew my son needed it!

There is is in his room! I used left over paint from his dresser and then added a clear coat because it's plastic not wood. Super cute right!? He adores it.

He even puts his movies away now!

This is the before of a lamp. It was $1.00 at Goodwill on $1 day! That's right I "tape" stuff off with a grocery bag and packing tape!

I spray painted it with leftover green from the dresser! I also added a nice clear coat to make is super glossy!

I finished these 2 wood music notes too! They were $3.99 at Hobby Lobby and will get hung in my kitchen!

I am pretty happy with them! I can't wait to get them hung up!

Thrift Store Score #3 Goodwill Outlets

Last week I was running around and happened to be right next to the Goodwill outlets!  I had been wanting to checkout "The Bins" for a long time and I managed to get in there.

It was rows and rows of these bins!  There were bins full of clothes. Not organized at all, bins full of books and movies, and bins with everything else. I found A LOT of trash. Then some guys walked out and took away bins and brought out new ones.

People rush around these new bins! Then employees literally scream not to touch anything until they say go. At that point stuff goes flying! It's nuts! I did not venture over to the new bins.

I ended up purchasing 20 lbs worth of stuff! Holy cow right!

We found these 8 VHS movies!

15 pieces of clothing. That's lots of clothes!

A lamp, 2 wood things, a trophy for beau's fantasy football, a canvas, and a cool framed art thing that I want to turn into a chalk board.

I was super excited about this. It's a sea shell chandelier. Isn't it going to look awesome spray painted?!

We got a total of 30 items for $12.00! Can't beat that price!

Painted Wicker Shelf

The first Make It March project is done! Me being dumb I forgot to take a before picture! :( It used to be powder blue. It was in pretty good shape though and it was only $3.99 at the thrift shop!

It is going in my son's big boy room. Not sure yet what we will put on it. I imagine it will hold movies or his Mobigo and games.

I spray painted it white and then red to cover the blue up. You can still see a touch of the blue but I'm OK with that. After all he has 3 blue walls in his room.

I was supposed to do the curtains in his room this weekend. After I took my measurements I realized I didn't have enough fabric to make it the size I want it. So that is sitting to the side.

Stop Pin-ing Start Doing YHL Challenge

So this is my new blog and the first time I really decided to blog for real. I enter linky parties and plan on doing some challenges.  I did the last YHL challenge for the thrift shop.

This time Young House Love is doing a Pinterest challenge.  The point is to stop pin-ing and start doing! I don’t have a problem with this. I plan on doing lots of pins. Wait that might mean I have a problem!

I decided to take on something big, bright, and fun. We are in the process of making my little monkey’s room a big boy room.

I searched thrift stores for a long time. I was looking for a short long dresser that wasn’t too long. I wanted good bones and a fair price. I saw lots of tall dressers and a few short ones. I just didn’t want to pay $50 for a used dresser. I also didn’t want a dresser that was huge.

Then one day I was at Goodwill for $1 day looking for clothes  and bang.  There is was.  It was short and long and only $15.00. I walked away knowing I could not fit this in my car. I didn’t make it far when I turned back. I bought it. I had 48 hours to figure out how to get it to my house.  Thank you mom for helping me.

I sanded off the clear coat finish and painted on my favorite primer. Really this stuff is awesome.

Next I went to Home Depot to get spray paint. Most the time I use Krylon but home depot had none! Instead I got this…

Let me tell you something. It was AMAZING! It took only a little more than 1 can to paint is. That’s it!  It really is 2 times the coverage. Before you ask… No I did not get paid to say this.

I was super excited. It’s bright and beautiful. I loved it. Then my very opinionated 3.5 year old son marched outside and demanded that I paint it green. WHAT?!?! Problem solved!

See that… awesome green inside the drawer.  Just perfect. He totally loves it.  Yes those are really his blinds right now. L  Guess what is one of the things on my Make It March   Curtains for his room!
