Recent Thrifty Fun!

I got some good stuff lately. Thrift store clothing is the only ay to go especially for kids. My son just turned 4 but wears a size 5 and I imagine he will be in 6 by Winter.

He grows like a weed. For that reason I thrift most of his clothes.

Not only do I thrift but I load up his old clothes and take them to a 2nd hand shop.

This is 4 shits and 3 pairs of shorts. They were free! I used my store credit!

I also scored these 4 awesome shirts for me. Who gets rid of a like new Darth Vader shirt?!

Then I scored this super cute and it great shape black leather bag! Also for free! The closure is so cute and I love the gold chain!

So thrift on! Also don't forget about your local 2nd hand stores that buy clothes. I got $40 in credit and the clothes are thrift shop priced (or cheaper!)

Thrift store score plus a refinished project!

I have a problem. Really I can't stop thrifting.  Shopping make me happy. I m an emotional shopper. Thrifting allows me to shop away my feelings and it's cheaper than going to the mall!

I found this cute cars lap desk. It was $1.50 my son is obsessed with Lightning Mcqueen. Good score I think!

I scored him 6 awesome shirts in size 5. $1.00 each!

Thrifting is the best for kids clothes. I'm telling you. They grow like weeds and even at Wal-Mart a shirt is $3.00 each! I got 6 shirts for the price of 2!

Then I found this. I was SOOO excited. Since I am moving out of my house into a small apartment with a roommate I need a place to put mail. I had been searching for something and this is amazing. It opens up and holds keys! It was $3.00.

A quick coat of red spray paint and stickers from Hobby Lobby. A for Ashleigh and N for Nick. This will help me for sure. I tend to just put things down. So having an exact spot to put mail and keys ensures they will not get lost!

Thrift store Clutches and purse!

I love thrifting. I mean I love it. I look back at my life and wonder how I lived before thrifting.

Then I remembered my house wasn't decorated and my clothes were falling apart.

I love clothes, and shoes, and purses. I like to have lots of choices.

So I went to Goodwill on half off day. I love half off day.

I went thinking I needed some clutches. I don't have many small bags. Mostly just big ones.

I carry large purses that have my whole life in them!

I did find some cute little clutches! 4 of them! Woo Hoo!

Prices:
The silver one is a hard body with metal chain and metal closure  it's sparkly and I love it. I love sparkles! I got it for $1.50

The gold one is classic clutch. Button close and is a good size. $1.00

The tiny black one has a cute beaded fringe and a beaded strap! It's cute and will work for a night out! It was $1.00

The white pleather purse is cute. Button closure and a cute bow! It has  silver metal chain. It was the most expensive of the 4 at $2.00!

Then I saw this. It's beautiful light brown and has cute buckle detailing. It's big and in great shape.  I swear it was never used. If it was used it must have been used once!

The inside has lots of pockets! Isn't it lovely! Yes it is!  I love it!

It was $4.00

Grand total $9.50! Not bad for 5 new bags right?!

I'm going to start a new series on Saturday! I can't wait to show you all!

Vintage kitchen!?

Last week I went to the thrift store... I knew I shouldn't since I'm moving, but I had to. I was glad  I did.. I ended up finding a few pieces for my vintage kitchen! I was excited!

I found this lovely decanter! I'll be using it for mouthwash at my new and very small apartment!

Haven't you seen the pins?
Like this one! I think it looks amazing! Can't wait!

Vintage casserole dishes!  They are not Pyrex but still amazing!

I just love them. I can't wait to use them!

I'll get better picture after I move and they are in my new kitchen!

I swear I have about 10 half done crafts all over the house. I'll finish some and start posting. I swear!

I've been a busy bee!

Really I have. It's been crazy around here! Let me tell you. I'm moving! Leaving my house ad into an apartment with a roommate!  I've been grabbing all my thrifted treasures that needed to be painted. I've been thrifting and purchased some new work clothes too!

Here are a few candle sticks I had waiting to be pained nice.

This pitcher. It has pretty detail but lots of scratches!

A little pink floral tray and a 1980s blue duck wall shelf!

The little tray is much cuter now!  There's nothing Mod Podge can't fix. I cut up a couple pages from a thrift store book!
Here are the items in  a pile. That shelf is much cuter in yellow! That bird is not a thrift score! It was brown and $9.00 at Ross.
So cute and bright right? This is how many cans of spray paint I have! :( Plus EVERYTHING can be painted!
The pitcher is much more amazing painted right! I can't wait to have it in my room!

I will be back soon!  I send most of my time trying to get rid of things I don't "need" It's hard!

Ultimate Work Clothes Thrift Score

Like I said last week  I am starting a new job in a fancy office and I have to wear dress clothes.  Sad I know. I don't own a lot of dress clothes to wear. I'm a jeans and t-shirt kind of girl.

So I headed to Goodwill on Thursday for dollar day.

I scored 6 pairs of pants and 4 skirts.  They were $1.00 each.

1 dress, 1 sparkle jacket, 1 bolero (that is in the wash right now). and 10 shirts!

That's 23 items for $23.00! I got a few more things too but I need to chop them up and make them rock before I post those.

These clothes are all in great shape and most of them are name brand. If I were to shop at Ross for $23 I would have only got 1 pair of pants and maybe 1 shirt. I know there are 3 burgundy tops but I like the color. Also the sparkly jacket is my favorite and it is really right out of the 80's. It came with crappy shoulder pads and a HORRIBLE dress.

Tomorrow I'll be posting a tutorial I promise!

Welcome Back Thrift Store Score

What a month! Whew.... Let me tell you. I 1 week my house got robbed. They got my laptop with all my tutorial pictures and all of my other stuff. I then got the terrible stomach flu. After that I lost my job for being sick and my car broke!

So I am back anyways ready to blog. While I was missing I noticed I have had lots of new readers and even better... some posts were pinned!

Thanks guys! That is awesome.

So I'm back now. While I was missing I didn't even thrift! WHAT?! I know.

I went in a few times this week  though and I am planning a good trip tomorrow. I just got a new job working for a bank corporate office. I have to dress nice all the time. I need some work clothes!

I found another awesome vintage pitcher for $1.99 and those shoes were $1.00. I won't wear them but I'm going to glitter them!

Tomorrow I'm going to get some work clothes though. Wish me luck!

I will have a new tutorial up soon too!

Thrift Store Score #2

So on Thursday I went to Goodwill for $1 Thursday. This time I even got the beau to go with me. His four kiddies needed clothes for over here. The beau is not a big fan of thrifting or shopping in general. What a lame!

I did snap a few pics of awesome things.

Wreath anyone? You are looking at a 6" shelf full of old wreaths! Holy moly!

If I was still married this would have been mine. Then I would insist that she hang it up because I am for sure a special friend!
Aren't these sombreros horrible, ugly, and stupid  a totally awesome find. At $.99 each I sure am glad my beau bought them.

For the kiddies: three pairs of jeans, a pair of gym pants, two pairs of shorts, a dress, a skirt, and four shirts. $12.00 for all of that. The black shirt with rhinestones is H&M!

For me I found these four awesome dresses to chop up and make pretty. I purchased a cute blue knit dress, which, my little sister promptly stole. I also got a pair of pants and shorts for my little monkey, but they went missing along with three other shirts.

I love $1 day! I will be going back this week too!

So for March I have decided to do something called Make it March. I will make 20 items in 31 days! I do not promise a tutorial of each thing but I will post picture of each one!

I even made a cute banner. :)

Tutorial Tuesday #3 Dollar Tree Washcloths to Fabulous Unique Baby Shower Gift

Today is a fun tutorial. It's sewing, frugal, and cute! Customizable baby shower gift that works great as washcloths and as booger cleaners. Since they are pretty soft they aren't too rough on the face.

Supplies:
1 pack of washcloths I got these 4 at Dollar Tree
Sewing machine with notions
Scrap fabric (right from my stash)

Cut your fabric a tiny bit larger than the washcloth since this brand of washcloth has a little stretch. Pin right sides together and sew.

Leave a small opening so you can turn it. It's best to leave the opening on a straight part of the cloth not the curve.
Flip you wascloth so the right sides are now out.

Tuck the opening inside and pin it. Next, put it back under the machine and topstitch starting and ending at your pin.
Lather, rinse, and repeat. I mean repeat the above steps to all the washcloths.

See here I have 4 beautiful and unique washcloths for a shower gift!  For the record they were a huge hit at the shower because they were so cute.

Total out of pocket cost: $1.00

Wish me luck tomorrow at Goodwill for dollar day!

Thrift Store Score #1

My post tonight comes a little late because my big sister had her baby tonight, and I am now a proud aunt! Connor is big, healthy, and oh so cute! My little monkey is so excited to go meet him tomorrow!

So this will be my first thrift store score post. I love thrift stores. I love to turn trash into treasure!

For the yard sales I went through my closet... and I mean really went through it. I got rid of things that didn't fit anymore or that I just don't wear. I LOVE clothes. I am an emotional shopper. I buy clothes when I'm sad, mad, stressed, and to celebrate.  I purged over 60 items from my closet!  HOLY CRAP! My closet was half empty.

After that I needed to replace some of those clothes. Since money is REALLY tight right now I decided to go to Goodwill. In Phoenix every Thursday we have $1 day! Everything with a certain tag color is just $1!

On my way to work I decided to stop (much like I do every week!)

I arrived just before 9AM when they open. There was already a line! The Goodwill I went to is in a better neighborhood than I live in. While they have better clothes they have less vintage kitchen items.

This Goodwill has TONS of furniture! Here is a quick picture I snapped.  I did end up making a furniture purchase for my son's big boy bedroom makeover. That will be in another post though!

This cracked me up! It's like a Catholic person and a Dexter fan designed a house. I get that maybe it could be for the blood of Christ but really? It doesn't match the saying very well.  It was only $1 that week but I left it for someone who might appreciate it more than I did.

Here is my loot! 2 pairs of  name brand blue jeans, a khaki trench coat, a cute bright dress, a vintage nightgown (it was too pretty to pass up!), a Tommy Hillfiger tank top, the black top still had tags on it meaning it was never worn! it was purchased for $12.00 at a discount Dillard's I could recognize the tag, and a vintage party dress complete with shoulder pads. That will get a fabulous refashion!

Grand total $8.00 plus tax! Can't beat that!

I will of course be going again this Thursday and the beau will be coming with me. He will be looking for clothes for the 5 kids for summer before we go buy them new! Hope we score a few $1 deals!

Tutorial #2 One Of a Kind Framed Art and Quick Update

Welcome to Tutorial Tuesday #2! Today's tutorial is fun for the whole family.  Beautiful one of a kind framed art...from the heart.

Here are the supplies you will need to start:

One poster board from Dollar Tree $.59 and a pack of finger paints $1.00.

Next tool a willing artist. This is mine. He was excited to paint for me.

Start painting.  We had a great time painting... this is his rendition of a dinosaur.

After the painting is finished let it dry.

I got this picture and frame for free. My sister gave it to me for my yard sale but I kept it.  It's a nice frame and mat.

I figured out what I wanted to put in the frame. Placed my mat over it and trace a light line. Then I cut outside the line and taped it into the frame. Then hung it up.

I love it. Also up today is a quick little update.

I have been staring up here all week deciding that I want to start a collection and place it up here for decor. Then I realized man this is a mess..... I grabbed an extra basket I had laying around and threw stuff in there.

Awwww...... much better. Now I can stare with a better idea of what I want? I am leaning towards candle stick holders.
