Pin Test #5 DIY Lotion Bars

This week I did a Pin Test on DIY lotion bars. You can buy them at Lush for $9.00 and up.  I chose this pin...
You can find the original instructions here!

I grabbed my supplies. Which I had at home already! :)  You will notice that what I used was a bit different. I used mango butter instead of shea butter, and almond oil because that is what I had already. The pickle jar has beeswax. I grated it with a microplane.

I chose to use six tbs of each.  When the beeswax was mostly melted I added the mango butter. I added that almond oil when that was melted, and then added in some tropical punch essential oil.
I quickly took my mixture out of the water, and started to pour it into the molds. I had a bit leftover at the end. That's alright though I will remelt it and put it into the molds.

I popped them out of the mold.  I used one already.  It did start greasy, but my hands feel nice now. These would make a great gift! Fast, easy, and cheap to make a bunch!

I say this is a pin pass!

Pin Test #4 Cleaning The Oven

My test is a day late :( I did it yesterday, but my charger wouldn't work so my computer wouldn't turn on!

I decided to keep with my cleaning the kitchen test.  I chose this pin.

Baking soda and vinegar to clean the inside of the oven.

This is my before oven. EWWW! That's gross right. Man I really need to learn how to clean!
I mixed vinegar and baking soda together to make a paste because that seemed easier.

I waited about half hour. Next I got a scrub brush. Got it wet and started scrubbing. I wiped away the mess. I could tell it was working because the baking soda was brown. Ewww! I thought I took a picture of that, but alas I did not.

I did have to take the razor blade to a few areas. If you don't know about cleaning with a razor blade you must do it. It's amazing! This is after. It looks MUCH better. Not perfect but this I think is acceptable!

Pin  Status: Pass.

This week posts will be a little different. Monday will be a thrift store score as well as my March pledge.  Tuesday will be Tutorial Tuesday. Wednesday I will be posting a special post for the Young House Love challenge. Saturday will be a new pin test.

Pin Test #2 Vinegar and Water In Microwave then Wipe Clean

So it's time for another Pin Test. We are also doing another yard sale this weekend. I haven't made the money this weekend I did last weekend but I still sold some more crap. Which is fun because it gives me money to go to the thrift shop and buy more crap things I need REALLY bad!

I tested this pin...

It works like this... get a microwave safe bowl add 1 cup of water and 1 cup of vinegar. Microwave 10 minutes and all the gunk should wipe clean with a rag.

Here is my embarrassing before picture.  YUCKY!

Here it is microwaving. While I stood there, impatiently waiting.

I wiped it with a rag. It did help a bit, but as you can see it did not just wipe clean.

Next I sprayed in some of my favorite cleaning spray! Gold Canyon Candle All Purpose spray. It smells like Rosemary and mint... mmmm... I paired that with a good old fashioned sponge and scrubbed with the green side.

That did the trick! Nice and clean! I won't say the pin was a fail because it did help a bit but I can't say it passed either.  I figure instead of waiting 10 minutes I would rather just use my spray and scrub since I had to do so anyways.

Tomorrow I am going to The Chocolate Affaire. MMMM I can't wait to get some chocolate covered strawberries! I love them! If you live in Phoenix area you should go. It's a great time! Bye bye yard sale money!

Pin Test 2 Magic Eraser In Toilet

I love the idea of cleaning without really doing anything... remember I am not a great house keeper :(. So when I saw this pin I thought, hot damn, this is great. I have this annoying ring... I scrub it... add bleach... nothing helps.  I figured welp... this would help.

So here is the pin I tested.  Magic Eraser in toilet bowl over night  and no more ring!

Here is my before picture.... see pretty much white except that ring!!

I wasn't sure how much a small piece was so I oped to cut 4 little triangles toss them in there. After I made sure everyone knew no using that bathroom for 8 whole hours.  I decided 10 was better.

I went to bed. Late... but to bed.  I woke up sick as a dog! I mean sick.. this would not have been so sucky if I wasn't having a yard sale today. AAAAHHH! After about 1.5 hours of sleep I had to come out into the cold and work.

After a few hours of drinking hot tea and selling crap really classy stuff I decided 10 hours was enough and went to check on my toilet.

This is what I saw. I made a pouty  face and took a picture of the inside of my toilet to post the internet... this made me laugh.

So the results... epic fail! This pin did not work! :(  What a sad day.

Good thing for the yard sale...... Mamma needs some spray paint.. and I'm on a strict budget right now.

Pin Test #1

So my first pin test is done. It's a bit of a cop out. It was raining all day today. I hate driving in the rain here. In Phoenix people swerve to miss the rain drops and hit you. No thank you! I cheated!  I used things at home I already planned on making.

The pin I copied...

I got 2 candlestick holders, and 2 glass candle holders? at Dollar Tree. I used my BFF of glues!

I have to admit I love them. For $4.00 I have 2 awesome things. These will be perfect when they dry for the shelf I bought for my bathroom.

They add the perfect amount of class to my not very classy home.  Next week I promise a better pin!
